As previously announced, Exelon, PECO’s parent company for more than 20 years, has separated from Constellation Energy Corp., its former power generation and competitive energy business. PECO remains a subsidiary of Exelon, the largest fully regulated utility company in the nation with more than 10 million customers.

Guided by existing company leadership, PECO will continue to invest in local infrastructure and innovative technologies, improve reliability and resiliency, and enhance safety and the customer experience as we transition to a cleaner energy future. Read more about this important change in our news release here.

Along with this change PECO will be transitioning to a new logo and brand, and even though our appearance will change over time, you should know that our commitment to being your trusted energy partner and our dedication to the communities we serve will only grow stronger.

So, how does this impact customers in southeastern Pennsylvania? Does it mean that service is changing, or billing updates? In short, no action is required by our customers. To help answer more frequently asked customer questions, please read on below:

  • What changed? Exelon, PECO’s parent company for more than 20 years, has separated from its power generation and competitive energy business. Exelon is still the parent company of PECO and PECO has adopted a new logo and brand identity.
  • Did you sell the company?  No. Our parent company, Exelon, separated from the generation side of its business.
  • What happened to the other part of the business (generation/retail)? The power generation and competitive energy business will now be operated under a separate, independent company known as Constellation.
  • Are you still local? Yes, the company will continue to retain the PECO name, Philadelphia headquarters, regional service locations, and maintain our positive economic and philanthropic impact on the region.
  • Why did you change the logo? The separation between Exelon and Constellation required Exelon companies, including PECO, to create a new logo. We are updating our brand to match the new Exelon brand, while maintaining our name. The new brand reflects our evolution to become more unified along with our commitments and dedication to our communities and future focus.
  • How much will this cost me? Separating our companies will not change rates for customers. Our new logo will be phased in over several years to take advantage of the natural lifecycle of materials, equipment, vehicles, etc. Any changes to PECO rates follow the standard process for regulatory rate reviews, which follow Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission guidelines, and include comprehensive input from customers and stakeholders.
