Our priority is keeping your lights on and your energy flowing. Every year, we make significant investments in the safety and reliability of our electric and natural gas systems – upgrades that directly prevent power outages and keep natural gas flowing for customers.

Part of this investment included a targeted five-year, $1.36 billion investment in the reliability and resiliency of our electric system. As a result, our customers experienced more reliable service:

  • Targeted upgrades improved reliability by 41% for customers who had previously experienced multiple service interruptions.
  • Across our service area, we invested more than $120 million to install nearly 1,500 reclosers – aerial devices that can stop the flow of electricity on a downed power line and automatically restore it within seconds where possible. Since 2019, these devices have helped prevent more than one million interruptions each year.
  • Over the last two years, on average, 1.1 million PECO customers did not see an outage outside of major storm events.

And the work is not done. Our Reliability & Resiliency 2030 Plan outlines our strategy to invest even more in targeted electric system investments over the next five years.

  • These strategic investments will help to prevent customer outages, modernize the electric grid, and reduce the impact of extreme weather. This work will also support the adoption of cleaner energy resources.
  • Investments like these have resulted in service reliability ranking PECO among the best in the nation as benchmarked against our peers, and as our performance during Winter Storm Fern showed, a resilient grid is essential when customers need it most.

We also work to continuously improve our natural gas system, investing more than $225 million in its safety and reliability each year. This includes inspecting and repairing equipment, installing additional main and service lines to reach new customers, and replacing existing natural gas main and service lines with new plastic pipe. This work enhances safety, is more durable, improves service, and reduces methane emissions. In 2025, PECO completed 288 projects to replace nearly 330,000 feet of existing natural gas lines.

At PECO, we know that re-investment leads directly to more reliability. We’re committed to strengthening our systems to continuously improve the reliability, safety, and resiliency of our energy and meet our customers’ evolving needs.
