What we’re seeing in customer shopping trends:
Supply prices continue to increase as demand increases, and available supply is not there to meet it. Because of these increases, we’ve taken a closer look at how shopping has played out for customers across our service area, and the numbers tell an important story.
- Many customers who shopped paid more than PECO’s Price to Compare (PTC).
- In 2025, residential electric customers who chose a competitive supplier paid more for supply on average—about 56% more—than customers who stayed on PECO’s default service.
- Residential natural gas customers who shopped for supply also paid higher costs on average—approximately 65% more than default service.
Overall, customers who selected competitive suppliers paid more than the Price to Compare in 2025. This reflects a mix of higher‑priced supplier offers and, in some cases, voluntary choices to select non‑default products with added features, such as renewable or green energy options that prioritize benefits beyond price alone.

- Read the contract closely, including introductory rates and early termination fees
