PECO held its seventh Infrastructure Academy last week! The interactive event took place at the 23rd Street Armory and every year is designed to prepare job seekers in our community with the skills that they need to secure a family-sustaining career in the energy industry.
During the two-day event, more than 200 participants engaged in mock interviews, assessment demonstrations and received guidance from PECO crew members to learn what area best suits them and what they would be interested in. Participants got the opportunity to explore the different craft positions in the company such as Aerial Line Mechanics, Underground Mechanics, Energy Technicians and more.

“This academy was created for individuals who’ve always wanted to join the energy industry or simply thought about it but never got the chance to,” said Keith Henderson, manager, Workforce Development at PECO. “Eliminating barriers and creating opportunities inside and outside the company guides our investment in workforce development programs across the Greater Philadelphia region.”
To date, over 200 individuals have been placed into employment through PECO’s Workforce Development efforts including more than 60 hires here at PECO. These placements were made possible not only through our internal programs, such as the Infrastructure Academy and the PECO Helper Pool Pre-Apprenticeship Program but also through strong partnerships with Workforce Development agencies across the Greater Philadelphia region.
