PECO does more than deliver safe and reliable energy for more than 1.7 million electric customers and 545,000 natural gas customers across the Greater Philadelphia region. The company has been recognized again by Site Selection Magazine for our leading role in supporting economic growth and job creation across southeastern Pennsylvania. Selected from more than 3,300 utility companies across the country, PECO has been named one of the Top 20 Utilities in Economic Development and is among the top 1 percent of all utilities in attracting new businesses, jobs, and investments.

Companies were evaluated based on measurements including the number of projects and capital investment in the region in the office and industrial sectors, plus innovative utility programs for business attraction and expansion.

This is the sixth year in a row that PECO has received this recognition. We were recognized for our support of the region’s growing life sciences industry, evolving network of warehouse/distribution centers, rising data center sector, and many multi-family developmental projects. Supporting these major projects not only spurs innovation in the area, but they provide thousands of new jobs for those living in the region.

“We are proud to be able to support the Greater Philadelphia region beyond our day-to-day duty of keeping the lights on and natural gas flowing,” said Phil Eastman PECO’s senior manager of economic & business development. “Many people don’t realize it, but a big part of our work is providing economic development services to help enable informed business location decisions, while also supporting state and local organizations in their efforts to attract, retain and grow business, jobs, and the tax base in the communities that we serve.”

This recognition was achieved as a result of the contributions of PECO’s Economic Development team and their ongoing collaboration with regional economic development organizations to raise the profile of the Greater Philadelphia region as a destination for new and expanding businesses.
