PECO works around the clock to ensure our customers have the safe and reliable service they depend on to power so many essential parts of their personal and professional lives. This is especially true for PECO’s Operations Control Center (OCC) employees.

Through weekends, holidays, sunny summer Fridays, and wild winter storms, PECO’s OCC is staffed 24/7 to serve our customers across southeastern Pennsylvania. These skilled employees monitor PECO’s system, assign crews to respond to suspected natural gas leaks to ensure customer safety, and coordinate and manage outage response to ensure power is restored to customers as quickly and safely as possible. If an outage occurs, employees will dispatch crews to the location for any necessary investigations and repairs. They also work behind the scenes to perform any possible work to reroute power to restore service to some, or all, of the impacted customers while field crews make permanent repairs.

While many people, including hundreds of back-office PECO employees, have been working remotely during the COVID-19 pandemic, the OCC employees, along with our dedicated field employees,  have continued working in-person due to the essential nature of their job. This includes working on a holiday while their families celebrate at home, overnight shifts when most people are getting their rest, and during extreme weather when others are cautioned to stay home.

PECO is an essential business and is committed to providing safe and reliable service to customers when they need it most, especially during these difficult times. The shift workers in the OCC, field crews, and all of PECO’s dedicated employees are critical in meeting that commitment to the customers.
